Birthday Month

Tomorrow is a big day. It is Zach AND James’ birthdays. So tonight I took James out to dinner since we’ll be on the road all weekend. I gave him the option of all of his favorite restaurants – ranging from super nice to super simple… His pick? Of ALL the places? Genghis Grill.

One of the many reasons I love him so much.

I am really excited about playing UT Chattanooga’s Homecoming tomorrow! This will make the 3rd week in a row that we are playing the lovely city of Chattanooga! We just LOVE that place!

And we’re down to only 12 days until our EP Release on iTunes! Which you can preorder NOW! Just click on the link. Don’t worry – I’ve already ordered my copy. ;)

Hailey Steele

A room full of talented musicians and friends. A stage full of talented musicians and friends. Doesn’t get much better than that, folks. Tonight Hailey Steele played the Basement in Nashville. Joel Dormer played guitar. (Who’s that guy?) Shaun Balin (one of my favs!) played fiddle, mando, guitar, and sang. Cameron Brousseau played drums. And Abbi Roth on bass. Freakin stellar band. Best I’ve heard Hailey. She sang a bunch of new songs and I was right up front smiling and crying like a goon the whole show.

It is so fun to have such talented friends. I love Nashville.

Peace. Love. Fiddle.

Procrastination

Taxes. Oh Taxes. You tedious chore. Yes, I am a consummate procrastinator. I almost always have to file an extension, leaving them for October instead of April. My Granny used to call me a procrastinator before I could even pronounce the word. Not much has changed when it comes to certain aspects of my life. :)

We drove over 60,000 miles last year – from New Mexico to New York to Miami. LAWD! It’s always crazy to see that on paper – and to see what it means on a map.

As tedious as it is to comb through all of the organizational details of each year… it’s fun to relive a year of touring in a nutshell. It’s funny the things you remember… The things I may have to save for the book someday… the things that would be inappropriate or disrespectful to talk about on my blog. ;) At least right after they happen. As a general practice in life, I think it’s more important to focus on the good things – even when they are hard to see – than to gush over the bad. Now if I could only incorporate that which I practice so diligently in my blog into more aspects of my life!

Whoa… I’m rambling. You can tell I have been working with numbers and inputting data all day… I think I’ll go to bed now. Excited about being creative tomorrow!

Peace. Love. Fiddle.

Tortilla Soup. Football. And a monkey. We haven’t had a day like today in a loooooong time. So needed. Back to work tomorrow. Hope this day of rest was restful for y’all, too! It’s amazing how wonderful it is to have a chance to recharge!
